ACT Wazalendo Calls SADC Troika to ensure a dignified exit for President Robert Mugabe
We have been following events in Zimbabwe over the last few days. We wish that the people of Zimbabwe remain calm and keep peace and stability of the country.

Though we support Zimbabwe’s transition to democracy, we have a strong opinion that the army shall remain in barracks and Zimbabwe shall not take the record of being the first country in frontline states to succumb to a military coup.

We therefore urge SADC to ensure a dignified retirement of President Robert Mugabe. We understand that Mugabe, a liberation hero in Southern Africa became the oppressor of his own people and a destroyer of one of the best run economies in Africa. However his contribution towards liberation in Africa and decolonization will never be forgotten.

We advise that an emergency meeting of the SADC Troika be called and necessary measures taken to bring Zimbabwe to normalcy and start the road to democracy and stability. The people of Zimbabwe have suffered a lot and it is enough.
