Tanzania has agreed to a request to give Kenya 500 doctors who will help the country deal with the problem of shortage of doctors in its medical centers especially after the appearance of the strike by doctors in the country.
President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. JohnPombe Magufuli has agreed to provide these doctors today on March 18, 2017 the State House in Dar es Salaam, after holding talks with a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Health of Kenya sent by the country's President, Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta.
Leader of the delegation are Minister of Health of Kenya, Hon. Dr. Cleopa Mailu has told Hon. President Magufuli that after a possible strike by doctors with the decision of the country to decentralize the health sector, it is noted that the country has a serious shortage of doctors that can not be overcome by relying on the doctors who are educated in the country, but to get doctors from abroad.
Hon. Dr. Cleopa Mailu who accompanied Governor of Kisumu Hon. Jack Ranguma said Kenya is ready to pay 500 doctors who all deserve to receive from Tanzania including salaries and residential homes.
Also Minister of Health and Social Welfare in Tanzania Hon. Ummy Master said his Ministry is ready to provide these doctors as soon as possible for that Tanzania has many good doctors who have completed their studies and have not found jobs, and others have completed their terms of office and still have the ability to work.
"So let me out a call to all doctors in Tanzania who are not in public service, are not in designated hospitals and who are not in hospitals NGOs who are paid by the Government to ask for these positions.
Criteria great that we show them is the first he has undergone practical training (Internship) and secondly be registered with the Council of Doctors of Tanganyika, so today we made a proclamation and we're very happy because we have enough doctors in the country and we can take them to Kenya " said Hon . Ummy Master.
For his part, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Magufuli said Tanzania has agreed to the request that Kenya is a relative, a neighbor and a true friend of Tanzania and has asked the Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Hon. Ummy Master accelerate the process of getting these doctors preceded them go to Kenya to carry out that role.
"The problems of Kenya are the problems of Tanzania, will give doctors the 500 to the toe of medical care for our brothers who are Kenya, and for that you have assured me that my doctors will reward the wages required, give a residential home, and you will ensure they are working in a good environment and safe I I have no problem and I believe things will go well " , said Hon. President Magufuli.
